Nuckled Up Gemini

Caught up with the dude Gemini just to find out more about him and what he does, this interview will give you more insight on everything linked to him…. Enjoy…

Q: 1st things 1st who is Gemini?

Gemini: Gemini is a 20 something year old music producer, artist manager, events organiser, entrepreneur, rapper & mogul in the making based in the East Rand

Q: How’d you get the name?

Gemini: The name comes from my star sign as I’m born in June right before Youth Day…

Q: How’d you get involved in hip hop, what it part of what we call a dream?

Gemini: It started back in High School when I started writing raps & being involved in cyphers with friends but professionally it was in college when I registered a record label then called Up Side Down Records & began the industry hustle of learning the ropes

Q: You appear to be more behind the scene than on the mic , why is that?

Gemini: That’s where the money & the learning is at lol… I’ve never stopped writing or rapping its just that I wanted to learn all aspects of the music industry before coming out as an artist so I started as a manager, then did events, clothing brand, music production & now I’m ready & prepared to go all out as a artist.

Q: What are the challenges you face on a daily have to manage a number of upcoming artist?

Gemini: The challenges that normally arise are with having the same vision, direction & keeping that communication clear cause things change on a daily & singles need to be on radio, interviews need to be done & in between all that a lot of miscommunication can mess things up on the way to a common goal.

Q: I’m gonna put you on the spot, amongst your artist that you manage, who’s most likely to taste stardom, break through 1st?

Gemini: Right now I’d probably say Dizzy Man Ape as he’s dropping he’s project in May, already shot he’s music video which is dropping also dropping in May so the wheel is already in motion & he’s fan base is growing on a daily so its his moment now.

Q: Top 3 local come up artists? And why….

Gemini: Without being bias it would be Devour, Dizzy Man Ape & Aby Fab simply cause I’ve seen first hand how hard they have worked & struggled to get their dreams off the ground & I respect how they came from nobodies to current Kings of their hood….

Q: What is your direction in this industry?

Gemini: I’m infiltrating it from the inside out & keeping creative control over my work as I’m at that point where I can compose, arrange, produce, write, record, mix, promote & market my own musical products & organise my own launch. I’ve found what works for me best now I’m milking it for all its worth!

Q: You’ve been putting out free beats, how does that benefit you? Are you looking to charge for your production in the near future?

Gemini: It’s already gotten me following, fan base, potential sponsorships, clientele etc all from people being able to download the beats for free & being able to use those beats. Currently I’m on over 14 thousand downloads in just 2 & a half months and have over 1000 different song variations released on the internet done from my beats, the beats are on countless mixtapes. Its being a successful marketing tactic that’s opening a lot of doors for me. Yes I do charge for exclusive beats & I’m doing production for documentaries, ads & tv shows so its all business.

Q: Where do you get your inspiration and drive?

Gemini: I get my inspiration from the likes of P Diddy, Jay Z, Dj Sbu, Oskido, God, the things I go through in life, my mother & music.

Q: Who would you say are your strongest competitors?

Gemini: From a production aspect its definitely Neo Beatz, Dynamic & Black Storm but in terms of the sound I’m focused on I don’t think there is an upcoming producer doing it as great as me especially in the East Rand.

Q: Your thoughts on production here in SA as compared to overseas?

Gemini: I think our quality & standard has improved a lot its almost on that international tip. What we need to work on more is having a distinct sound in regard to production & not be following too much international trends but rather create our own.

Q: Who do you wish to work with internationally if given a chance?

Gemini: Kanye West

Q: Rival?

Gemine: Im a GEMINI so I’m always my biggest rival & critic…

Q: Your last words to the masses?

Gemini: Take your time with whatever your talent & craft is, don’t be in a rush for success & end up doing what you think SELLS instead of SELLING WHAT YOU DO….
