I caught up the forever Busy Grinding artist, the man of the moment many might describe, set down for an interview that brings clarity and knowledge about him SEAN PAGES
Here’s how it went:
Q: As we all know that most rappers come from either the heart of Jo’burg ,Soweto or in the burbs, how did you find your footing leading to your breakout in the industry coming from Alex?
SEAN PAGES: As a real artist, a lot feeling are surreal, because at that moment, all you do is get lost in your work and music and by the time u decide to look around, everything around has changed. Its one crazy feeling I tell you.
Q: How would you describe your production style?
SEAN PAGES: its quite broad actually, I choose not to stick to any type of style and get boxed in. I must say though, I’m mostly known for my sampling.
Q: Do you have a 9 to 5 , and if yes, do you see yourself quitting to pursue music full time?
S.P: Nah, quit my 9-5 3yrs ago and never looked back, devoted my life to the music ever since. If u don’t place both on the dream u can easily lose it.
Q: How did you end up being part of Glitz Gang and The All Stars?
S.P: I was one of the founders of Glitz Gang. Everything basically started in high school and still we’re here.
Q: I personally been hearing a lot of people asking if “Sean Pages” is really your name, is it?
S.P: Lol, its my nick name, first rapper in SA to have an aka with a surname lol!!!!
Q: The current project you working on is it an album or mixtape? The title of it? How do you plan on dropping it, hard copies or digitally?
S.P: Its an album, titled Zone Out. Will be releasing it independently, that’s the new swag (not easy though) both digitally and hard copy. I hear and get a lot o cats talkin’ bout they wanna be signed this they wanna be signed that, reality is you gon end up nowhere waiting for that shit, do you and grind hard.
Q: What’s your take on the game in terms of come ups making a mark and actually growing the hip hop industry?
S.P: The comes up are looking lovely right now, cats must just not expect shit to fall out their laps and need to understand how the system goes instead of thinking everything flows magically.
Q: We seeing your video on TraceTv and that’s basically gonna open not just African but international doors for you, how does that make you feel as an artist and producer?
S.P: Doors gotta open, door gotta stay opening, that’s one of artists goals. To reach and stay reaching. So shout outs to Media that show love and keep us reaching high.
Q: Ginger BreadMan is said to be working with you, as a talented rapper that he is, have you taken him under your wing?
S.P: Nah, he aint signed under me. Just heard him on the Full Clip and what I heard was enough for me to wanna work with him. True story is you don’t get cats likes him everyday, look out for his mixtape R.O.T.Y. (Rookie Of The Year)
Q: Apart from The Four Brothers, who else have you produced for? And do you choose who to produce or you’d do it for anybody that wishes to?
S.P: Nah I don’t just produce for the brothers only. sadly there’s still a lot of understand-skilled over-ambitious dudes out there, so I prefer choosing who I was give beats to.
Q: Top 5 S.A producers , Top 10 S.A come ups, and your Top 5 All Time S.A rappers
S.P: Ima leave top SA Producers blank, but just know I’m in it though lol.
And Top10 SA come ups? I can only think of 3 right now, well the ones that have grabbed my attention of course: Gingerbread Man, Truey (Donatella) and Mickey M even though I’ve only heard him once, hopefully he maintains.
Q: Behind every successful man there’s a woman , is there any behind Sean Pages?
S.P: oh hell yeah, her mane is hip hop.
Q: Last words to all your fans out there in and around Africa?
SEAN PAGES: Your boy’s reaching your town your country real soon #ThatsAll
Q: Feel like I know you a whole lot and understand your work now hope the readers do too, thanx for taking the time to speak to me, keep doing what you do and you shall prosper….
